Now here's a hot topic: Wendy Williams is joining the Tony-winning revival of Chicago as Matron "Mama" Morton, replacing current star Christine Pedi.
From June 25 through August 11, Williams will take over the role of the corrupt warden in the hit production of Chicago, the classic Kander and Ebb show about murderous women, sleazy lawyers and all the razzle-dazzle and fishnet stockings in between.
Williams hosts a syndicated television talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, and was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Prior to television, Williams was a "shock jock" on several radio shows. She gained attention for her on-air spats with celebrities, and was the subject of the 2006 VH1 reality TV series called The Wendy Williams Experience.
The revival of Chicago, now in its 17th year, currently stars Amy Spanger as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Adam Pascal as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, Pedi as Mama Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
